A blackout drape is not just a dark fabric. Light finds the edges: the gap at the wall, the split at the center, the space above the rod. We solve all three - a return that carries the panel back to the wall, a generous center overlap, and a top treatment or ceiling mount that seals the header.
The lining does the rest. A sewn-in three-pass blackout blocks essentially all light while interlining adds weight, insulation, and a quieter room. The face fabric stays whatever you love - silk, linen, velvet - so the room reads luxurious by day and disappears at night.

With returns, overlap, and a sealed header, the room reads fully dark. Paired with a channeled blackout shade, it is absolute.
Does blackout lining change how the drape looks?
From the room side, no - you see your face fabric. It adds weight, which usually improves how the drape hangs.
Does it help with heat?
Yes - blackout plus interlining is a meaningful barrier against South Florida solar gain on east and west exposures.
Can you add blackout to my existing draperies?
Often yes, if the construction allows. We will inspect and tell you honestly.
