Build Your Somfy Motorized Track
Configure the track, motor, control and drapery - and see a budgetary installed price as you go.
Build your motorized track
Choose your options and the price updates as you go. This is a budgetary estimate - we confirm the final figure after a free on-site measurement, and we would rather you knew the range before we ever visit.
Track width
Measure the finished width you want the track to cover - wall to wall, or pocket to pocket.
How should it open?
Motor type
Battery motors need no wiring - the usual pick for a finished condo. Wired motors are better for wide or heavy drapery and daily schedules.
Control method
Mounting
Track finish
Track only, or ready to hang?
Drapery is priced per foot of track width and includes fabrication, lining and hardware.
Add-ons
How many tracks like this?
Wired, battery or smart hub
Most of the price difference in a motorized track comes down to this one choice. Here is the honest trade-off.
| Motor type | Best for | Trade-off | Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rechargeable battery | Finished condos and rentals where opening walls is not an option; single rooms; retrofits. | Needs periodic recharging; less suited to very wide or heavy drapery. | Built-in battery, recharged by cable or optional solar |
| Wired (low-voltage or line) | Wide spans, heavy or lined drapery, daily automated schedules, new construction. | Requires power at the track - best planned during renovation. | Continuous - never needs charging |
| Smart-hub connected | Whole-home automation, voice control, sun and schedule automation, integration with other systems. | Higher up-front cost; needs stable Wi-Fi and a hub. | Either wired or battery, plus the hub |
Not sure which one fits? Tell us the width, the drapery weight and whether power is nearby, and we will tell you which of the three we would put in our own home for that opening. For the full hardware detail, see Somfy Glydea, the Glydea 35 motor, and Irismo WireFree.
The motor is the part you cannot replace cheaply
A drapery track is hardware you touch every day for fifteen years. The difference between a good motorized track and a frustrating one is almost always the motor and the way it was measured - not the fabric.
Quiet enough to sleep through
Somfy drapery motors run at conversation-level volume or below, with soft start and soft stop so the leading edge does not slam at the end of its travel.
One ecosystem, one remote
Your tracks, roller shades and exterior screens can all run on the same RTS or TaHoma platform - one remote, one app, one set of scenes instead of four.
Parts still exist in ten years
Somfy is a long-established motor manufacturer with a real parts channel. When a remote is lost or a motor eventually fails, replacement is a service call, not a full re-do.
Measured for the opening you have
Curved bays, deep returns, pocket ceilings and stacked sliders all change the track profile. We measure on site rather than working from a floor plan.
Installed by the people who quoted it
The same team measures, fabricates and installs, so nothing is lost in a handoff between a salesperson and a subcontractor.
Condo and HOA aware
We work in South Florida towers every week - COI paperwork, service elevators and no-drill situations are routine rather than a surprise.

Somfy motorized track FAQ
How much does a Somfy motorized curtain track cost?
Most single motorized drapery tracks land in the low four figures once track, motor, control and installation are included. The three things that move the number most are track width, motor type, and whether drapery fabric is part of the order. The configurator above gets you to a realistic budget in about a minute.
Do Somfy motorized tracks work with Alexa and Google Home?
Yes, when the track is paired with a Somfy TaHoma hub. That gives voice control, phone app control, schedules and sun-position automation. A remote-only RTS system works from a handheld or wall remote and needs no hub - simpler and less expensive, but it will not respond to voice.
How long does a battery motor last before recharging?
It depends on drapery weight, track width and how many times a day the track cycles. Typical residential use runs several months to about a year between charges. Heavy lined drapery on a wide track that opens and closes twice a day will need charging noticeably more often - which is exactly the case where we steer you to a wired motor instead.
Can I motorize curtains without running new wiring?
Yes. A rechargeable battery motor is the standard answer for a finished condo where opening the ceiling is not realistic. If the unit is already under renovation, or there is power near the track, wired is the better long-term choice.
Can you motorize my existing track or rod?
Sometimes. Certain track profiles accept a retrofit motor, but many decorative rods and builder-grade tracks lack the carrier and bracket system a motor needs. We look at the existing profile first and tell you straight whether retrofitting or replacing is the better value - often the replacement track costs less than fighting the old one.
How wide can a single motorized track go?
We fabricate and motorize single tracks up to about 30 feet. Beyond that, or around a complex bay, we split it into two synchronized tracks operating together from one remote - usually a better result mechanically and visually.
What happens if the power goes out?
Battery motors keep working normally. Wired motors stop until power returns, but most Somfy drapery motors can be moved by hand or with a manual override, so you are never stuck with a drape you cannot close.
Is the estimate a firm quote?
No. It is a budgetary figure built from our typical pricing. The firm number comes after a free on-site measurement, once we have seen the ceiling condition, the return depth and the drapery you actually want.

"I'm really happy with my new curtains! The team came to my place, helped me choose the right fabric, and guided me through the whole process. Great service and beautiful results. Highly recommend, A+."
"We were referred to Exotic Shades by our contractor. They understood exactly what we had in mind and delivered it. The whole process was simple, and the pricing was very good."
"I needed help adjusting the existing Lutron shades in my new home. Most companies would not touch a system installed by someone else, but Exotic sent a technician the same week."
