Window treatments solve both - a channeled blackout shade eliminates the light, and interlined drapery plus upholstered panels absorb the reflections that blur sound.
Then it should be automatic. We integrate the shades into your control system so the "Movie" scene drops the blackouts, closes the drapes, and dims the lights together - Lutron, Crestron, Control4, or Savant, programmed and documented by our own team.

Do I need blackout if the room has no windows?
No - but you may still want acoustic drapery and panels, which is where most of the sound improvement comes from.
Can the shades trigger with my projector?
Yes - through your control system. Pressing Movie can lower shades, close drapes, and set lights in one command.
Does drapery really improve sound?
Interlined fabric absorbs mid and high frequencies - the reflections that smear dialogue. It is why cinemas have fabric walls.
