Light, made to move

Nothing suits South Florida glass like sheers: European voiles and linens that filter hard sunlight into a soft, even glow, sway with the room, and frame the view instead of hiding it. Floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall, hemmed to the millimeter.

Our workroom sews sheers with deep hems and perfect fullness, on hand-drawn hardware or motorized tracks that glide thirty feet of fabric open in silence. Layer them over solar rollers or blackout panels for day-night control.

Recently: an oceanfront condo in Boca Raton - Villa Nova Geneva Chalk sheers - 60% cotton, 40% linen - on recessed Somfy tracks across an ocean wall, with the fullness trimmed so the stack clears the glass. Also: Landmark Ranch Estates, Southwest Ranches - Silken Textures sheers up to sixteen feet high on wired tracks, finished flush to the floor through the hallways, dining room and apartment of a new estate.

How We Build It

How sheer draperies are sewn in our workroom

Sheers show every shortcut, so we take none: wide-width European voiles and linens railroaded to run seamless across a window wall, fullness set for the fabric so the wave is even from end to end, deep double hems weighted to hang plumb, and ripplefold snap tape or pinch pleats set by hand. Ceiling-mounted tracks stretch the room and frame full-height glass; a second track behind carries a blackout or dim-out layer for bedrooms. Every panel is cut and sewn by our five in-house seamstresses in Fort Lauderdale.

South Florida

Sheer curtains in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach

Nothing suits a wall of South Florida glass like sheers, and they are our most requested drapery from Brickell and Miami Beach condos to Fort Lauderdale waterfront homes and Palm Beach island. At the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach we built ripplefold sheers on Lutron Sivoia QS tracks across five rooms to the designer's fabric schedule; at Turnberry Ocean Club the sheers are Romo Zyla wide-width goods. Motorized on Lutron or Somfy tracks, thirty feet of fabric glides open in silence; layered over solar rollers, the room keeps its view by day and its glare under control; for privacy after dark the same track carries a lined or blackout panel.

Good to Know

Frequently asked

Do sheers block UV?

They filter a meaningful share of UV and glare; layer with solar shades for full protection.

Will they survive Florida sun and salt air?

We specify performance voiles and linens chosen for coastal exposure.

Can sheers be motorized?

Beautifully - see motorized drapes.

Sheers alone or layered?

Living areas often run sheers alone; bedrooms layer blackout behind.

Ripplefold or pinch pleat for sheers?

Ripplefold is the modern standard for sheers - a continuous even wave that stacks tight on a motorized track; pinch pleat reads more traditional and suits decorative rods.

Can you sew sheers without seams across a wide window?

Yes - wide-width voiles and linens railroaded so a 20- or 30-foot wall runs seamless, hemmed to the millimeter.

"I needed help adjusting the existing Lutron shades in my new home. Most companies would not touch a system installed by someone else, but Exotic sent a technician the same week."
