The reason most beautiful homes never get motorized drapery is power. Running a circuit to a track in a finished condo means opening ceilings, patching, painting, HOA approvals - and often it simply cannot be done. The Somfy Irismo 45 WireFree removes that obstacle entirely: a rechargeable lithium-ion motor inside the track, no wiring at all.
It is not a compromise product. Irismo 45 carries up to 99 lbs (45 kg) of drapery across a track up to 33 ft (10 m), runs roughly nine months on a charge, and offers touch motion, a favorite "my" position, four adjustable speeds and soft start and stop - the same behaviours as the wired system.
Recently: an oceanfront condo in Boca Raton - Irismo 45 RTS tracks recessed into the ceiling with the general contractor, carrying cotton-linen sheers in the living spaces and 100% linen drapery in the master.

Capacity
Up to 99 lbs (45 kg) of drapery on a single motor; up to 198 lbs (90 kg) with paired motors on one-way or center-open configurations.
Track Length
Up to 33 ft (10 m) per run, with up to two junctions - and it bends: 300 mm minimum bending radius, 3 m curving radius.
Battery & Charging
Removable 21.9V-class lithium-ion pack. Roughly nine months per charge (Somfy basis: 20 ft center-open track, 99 lbs of drapery, one open and close per day). Recharge in under six hours with the separate charger.
Sound
Published at under 44 dBA - quiet, though the hardwired Glydea has a true silent mode below 38 dBA if the room demands it.
Control
Somfy RTS radio - Telis remotes, wall keypads, and the TaHoma hub for app, schedule and voice control through Alexa and Google Home. Integrates to Control4, Crestron, Savant, ELAN, URC and RTI at the RTS scene level via TaHoma.
Headings & Openings
Ripplefold (overlap or butt arm), pinch pleat and Accordia headings; one-way, center-open and asymmetric configurations - all sewn to the track in our own workroom.

How often do I really have to charge it?
Somfy publishes roughly nine months of autonomy under a standard test. Heavier drapery, longer tracks or several cycles a day will shorten it. The battery pack lifts out and recharges in under six hours.
Is there a solar charging option?
We do not claim one. Somfy publishes a WireFree solar panel accessory for some products, but we have not verified compatibility with Irismo 45 - so we plan for plug-in charging and will confirm with our Somfy rep for your project.
When do you NOT recommend Irismo?
Three cases. Very heavy interlined drapery over 99 lbs. Runs longer than 33 ft. And true home-cinema rooms where the drape must move during a film - the wired Glydea silent mode is quieter. In new construction, we run power and use Glydea instead.
Does it report battery level to my app?
Not on Irismo 45 - RTS radio is one-way, so there is no position or battery feedback. If two-way status matters, we will discuss Somfy WireFree Zigbee alternatives at the consultation.
Can it be recessed into a ceiling pocket?
Yes - with the battery accessible for recharging. We plan that access into the pocket detail, which is exactly the sort of thing that gets missed when a track is bought online.
Will it work with my existing drapes?
Often - if the heading is compatible and the panels are within weight. We measure and inspect before promising anything.
