The reference for hardwired drapery automation

Glydea is Somfy's hardwired drapery motor: the motor lives inside the track and draws the panels open and closed on a remote, a keypad, a schedule, an app, or a scene from your control system. In the US the current line is Glydea ULTRA 35 and Glydea ULTRA 60 - the number is the drapery weight in kilograms each one carries.

We are a certified Somfy Expert and SDN Specialist, so we do more than resell it: we calculate the load of your actual fabric, specify the motor and track geometry, sew the heading to that track in our own workroom, install it, program it, and document the system for your integrator.

Specifications

Glydea ULTRA 35 vs ULTRA 60

Published Somfy US figures. We verify every project against the current Somfy datasheet before ordering.

Glydea ULTRA 35

Up to 77 lbs (35 kg) of drapery, tracks to 32 ft (9.7 m). Paired: 154 lbs across 64 ft. The right motor for most residential openings. Full Glydea 35 specifications.

Glydea ULTRA 60

Up to 132 lbs (60 kg), tracks to 36 ft (10.9 m). Paired: 264 lbs across 72 ft. Our choice for interlined estate drapery and long waterfront walls.

Silent Mode

Under 38 dBA at about 3 in/s - the quietest drapery motor we install. Standard speeds run 5-8 in/s when you want the drape to move briskly.

Power

120V. RTS and DCT models arrive with a 10 ft cord and molded plug; Wired versions are hardwired for concealed installations. Standby draw is under 1 W.

Touch Motion & "my"

A gentle pull starts the motor, with two sensitivity settings. A favorite "my" position returns the drape to the exact opening you like on one tap.

Track Geometry

One-way, center-open, asymmetric and multiple panels. Bends to an 11.8 in radius and curves to 118 in - up to two junctions per run. Ceiling or wall mounted, or inverted for top-mount.

Specification Judgement

When we recommend Glydea - and when we do not

New Construction & Renovation

Walls are open - run the power. You gain silent mode, higher capacity, longer runs and the deepest integration, and nobody ever thinks about a battery.

Heavy Interlined Drapery

Silk, velvet and interlined panels get heavy fast. Above roughly 99 lbs, Glydea ULTRA 60 is the only Somfy drapery motor that carries it on one track.

Long Waterfront Spans

Thirty-plus feet of glass in one continuous run - paired ULTRA 60 motors reach 72 ft and 264 lbs.

Media Rooms

Silent mode below 38 dBA is the difference between a drape that moves during a film and one you notice. See media room treatments.

Deep Smart-Home Integration

DCT models add wired SDN RS485 two-way control and a Zigbee option - the path your integrator will want on a fully controlled home.

When We Do NOT Recommend Glydea

A finished condo where power cannot reach the track without opening ceilings - that is Irismo WireFree territory. And a guest room that needs simple open-and-close does not need this motor at all; our Essential track serves it better and costs less.

Frequently asked

What is Somfy Glydea?

Glydea is Somfy's hardwired drapery track motor - a motor inside the track that draws your curtains open and closed on a remote, keypad, schedule, app or smart-home scene. The current US line is Glydea ULTRA 35 and Glydea ULTRA 60.

Glydea ULTRA 35 or ULTRA 60 - which do I need?

It is decided by weight and length, not by preference. ULTRA 35 carries up to 77 lbs across 32 ft; ULTRA 60 carries up to 132 lbs across 36 ft. We weigh your specified fabric with its lining and interlining before choosing.

Do I need an electrician?

Not always. The RTS and DCT models ship with a 10 ft cable and a standard plug, so an outlet within reach is often enough. The Wired versions have no plug and are hardwired - and any concealed, in-ceiling installation is best planned at the framing stage. We provide the pocket and power details to your GC.

How quiet is it really?

Somfy publishes under 38 dBA in silent mode - quieter than a typical refrigerator. That silent mode runs at about 3 in/s; standard speeds run faster and are slightly louder. In media rooms we set silent mode and nobody hears the drape move.

Will it work with Control4, Crestron or Savant?

Yes - through Somfy TaHoma, which publishes drivers for Control4, Crestron, Savant, ELAN, URC, RTI and Alarm.com, plus Alexa and Google Home. On those platforms integration works at the RTS channel and scene level. DCT models also support wired SDN RS485 two-way control and a Zigbee option.

Can the track be curved or bent?

Yes. Glydea supports one-way, center-open, asymmetric and multiple configurations, with a minimum bending radius of about 11.8 in and a curving radius of about 118 in - so corners and bays run continuously. See why we bend tracks.

Does it work with ripplefold and pinch pleat?

Both - ripplefold with overlap arm or butt arm, pinch pleat, and Accordia. The heading is sewn to the track in our workroom, which is why the waves land evenly.

Can I still pull the drapes by hand?

Yes - touch motion lets a gentle pull start the motor, and manual operation is supported. There are two sensitivity settings so a passing pet or a breeze does not trigger it.
