A looped, woolly texture with a matching blackout
Bouclé is the most tactile fabric in Lutron's Atelier Collection: a 100% polyester weave with the looped surface of a bouclé wool, light-filtering at under 3% openness, 108 inches wide, PVC-free and Oeko-Tex certified. The eleven colours (Snow, Off White, Ivory, Parchment, Stone, Fossil, Platinum, Mink, Monument, Nomad, Bluewash) are grouped by Lutron into its Pure, Canvas, Shadow and Mystic colour stories, and Bluewash is one of the few blue-grey shades in the whole library.
Bouclé Blackout uses the same face over a flocked acrylic backing, in the same eleven colours, so a bedroom can carry the identical texture with total darkness behind it. Both versions are seamable; neither is railroadable.
What Bouclé does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
The looped face is the reason to buy it, so put it where people stand close to it: a primary bedroom, a sitting room, a hotel-style condo living room where the shade reads as upholstery. Bouclé light-filtering at under 3% openness is the daytime layer, holding the room bright and the street out. Bouclé Blackout in the matching colour is the one that goes in the bedroom.
Privacy
Two different answers. The light-filtering weave at under 3% openness stops anyone reading the room in daylight, but after dark, with a lamp on, it shows silhouettes and movement to anyone below. The blackout ends that completely. What it does not end is the light escaping down both edges of a roller shade, which needs side channels or an outside mount to close it off.
Glare control
Lutron publishes no light transmission figures for either version, so judge it by openness and colour. Under 3% openness takes the direct beam out and leaves the room soft and even. What it cannot do is stop the panel itself lighting up when the afternoon sun is square on the glass, and a pale Snow or Ivory lights up more than Mink or Monument. A television facing that window will show it.
Limitations
Neither version gives you a view, so do not put Bouclé on the one window worth looking through. Both stop at 108 inches, and while the cloth can be seamed, a looped texture makes the seam easy to find. The blackout is the heavier of the two at 11 oz and rolls thicker. Lutron publishes no fire rating for either, so a hotel specification goes to Tela instead.

Is Bouclé suitable for a humid room?
It is a polyester fabric and does fine in an air-conditioned bedroom or living room. For a bathroom or an open lanai we would specify a vinyl or fiberglass screen instead.
How wide can a Lutron Bouclé shade be?
Lutron publishes a maximum usable fabric width of 108 inches for Bouclé. It can be seamed for wider openings, or two shades share one headrail and move together. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
