Lutron Natural Screen Fabric
4 colourways, openness 5%, solar screen, up to 116 inches wide. Every swatch and every specification, from a certified Lutron dealer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach.
A 2024 addition in four soft, linen-like colours at 5%
Natural Screen is one of Lutron's newer screens, added in 2024: a polyester and vinyl weave (38% polyester, 62% vinyl) in Birch, Ash, Stone and Walnut at 5% openness, 116 inches wide, seamable and railroadable. Visible light transmission is high for a 5% screen (15% to 21%), and the colour card is built to sit with natural linens rather than with technical whites and charcoals.
It has a stain-resistant finish, is anti-microbial and RoHS compliant, and is listed to NFPA 701.
What Natural Screen does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
One openness and four colours makes this a short decision, and the stain-resistant finish points it at the rooms that get handled: a family room slider, a kitchen window, a lanai door. At 116 inches it is railroadable as well as seamable, so a wide low transom can run the fabric sideways. Where the sun arrives directly, this is not the weave to use.
Privacy
This is the thinnest daytime privacy of any screen on the Lutron card, and it should be said plainly. Birch passes 21% of the visible light and Ash 15%, so in daylight someone on the terrace sees shapes and movement inside. There is nothing at all after dark. On a ground floor or in a bedroom, run it in front of a blackout on a dual roller rather than alone.
Glare control
Do not buy Natural Screen for glare. At 15% to 21% visible transmission the sun still reaches a monitor and a television opposite the glass washes out on a bright afternoon. Ash is the tightest of the four and the one to take if the room has a screen in it. For a west room or a media room, one of the tighter fiberglass screens is the right answer.
Limitations
Lutron lists it to NFPA 701 alone, without the California Title 19 and CAN/ULC listings most of the screen range carries and without GREENGUARD, so a commercial or condo specification asking for those has to look elsewhere. There is one openness factor, no darkening and no night cover. For heat on unshaded glass, a tighter fiberglass screen is the sounder choice.

Where Natural Screen works here
Natural Screen is for the rooms where the look of linen wins and the sun is not extreme: covered lanais, north-facing family rooms and the shaded side of a Palm Beach house. Birch and Stone are close to the colours of the sheers we make in our workroom, so a screen on the glass and a sheer drapery in front of it can read as one material.
Natural Screen: frequently asked
Can I match Natural Screen to a linen drapery?
Closely. Birch and Stone sit within the range of the natural linens and sheers we stock in Fort Lauderdale, and we can bring drapery samples and order the Natural Screen samples for the same appointment.
How wide can a Lutron Natural Screen shade be?
Lutron publishes a maximum usable fabric width of 116 inches for Natural Screen. It is railroadable, so a wider opening can be covered in one piece by turning the fabric. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
Which Lutron shades use Natural Screen?
Natural Screen is made up on Lutron roller shades. As a certified Lutron dealer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach we order it for any Lutron system it is offered on and install it with our own team.
Can I see Natural Screen samples before ordering?
Yes. Lutron makes memo samples of every Natural Screen colourway on this page; tell us which colours you are considering and we order them from Lutron for your consultation. Both our Fort Lauderdale workroom (by appointment) and our Miami Beach showroom have Lutron shades running so you can see the fabrics in motion.
