Aura is a fiberglass and vinyl screen with a colour card that leans warm and natural: Parchment, Naturelle, River Rock, Tumbleweed, Harvest, Hazelnut and Flagstone, each in 3% and 5% openness, 96 inches wide. It sits in Lutron's Gallery and Commercial collections, carries GREENGUARD, RoHS, lead-free and anti-microbial certifications, and is listed to NFPA 701, CA Title 19 and CAN/ULC-S109.
Aura is seamable but not railroadable, so openings wider than 96 inches are seamed or split across two shades. Visible light transmission is a moderate 4% to 12%, which keeps rooms calm even in the lighter colours.
What Aura does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Rooms where the shade is part of the finish and the sun is not extreme. Parchment reflects 63% of the solar energy that hits it and is the one for a bright, unshaded wall. Harvest, Hazelnut and Flagstone are dark, warm and quiet, which suits a study or a den. It is a roller fabric only, so skylights and sloped glass have to come from another card.
Privacy
Nothing here passes more than 12% of the visible light, so daytime cover is decent throughout. Parchment sits at that 12%, and it is also the most reflective, which is a fair trade on a street-facing window: it bounces daylight back rather than letting a passer-by read the room. Hazelnut at 4% shows the least and sees out most clearly. Night is the usual reversal, so a bedroom needs a second layer.
Glare control
Reasonable, without being a glare fabric. The dark colours at 3% openness, Hazelnut at 4% and Flagstone at 5% visible transmission, hold a monitor steady through most of the day. Parchment and Naturelle at 5% openness, at 12% and 11%, leave enough light to wash out a television at midday. If glare is the whole reason for the shade, a 1% weave does the job properly.
Limitations
Harvest and Hazelnut reflect 16% and 14% of the sun they meet, so on hard west glass most of that energy ends up in the fabric at the window. There is no 1% version, and nothing here darkens a room, so a bedroom still wants a blackout shade with it. Published NRC of 0.15 to 0.2 is little help in a hard room.

Aura Parchment is the fabric on all fourteen Lutron Sivoia QS Triathlon battery rollers in our Luxury Home, Boca Raton project: 5% in the master bedroom and on the terrace slider, 3% on the bath and stair windows. The house has warm plaster and pale wood, and Parchment reads as part of the finish rather than as a technical shade. Why 5% in the bedroom and 3% on the bath in Boca Raton?
Exposure. The bedroom and terrace open under cover and wanted the view; the bath and stair windows take direct afternoon sun and needed the tighter weave. Same colour, so the difference never shows.
How wide can a Lutron Aura shade be?
Lutron publishes a maximum usable fabric width of 96 inches for Aura. It can be seamed for wider openings, or two shades share one headrail and move together. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
