Lutron Premiere Fabric
5 colourways, blackout, up to 92 inches wide. Every swatch and every specification, from a certified Lutron dealer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach.
A fiberglass blackout for rollers and skylights
Premiere is a 42% fiberglass, 51% acrylic blackout with a cotton-flocked back, offered on both roller and tensioned shades, which makes it one of two blackouts on this site that can go on a Lutron skylight shade. Five colours (White, Chartreux, Loutre, Mississippi, Sahel), 92 inches wide, seamable and railroadable, PVC-free, lead free and anti-microbial, with NFPA 701, CA Title 19, CAN/ULC-S109, UNI 9177 and M1 NFP 92-507 fire listings.
Solar reflectance is 69% to 71% and light transmission 0% in every colour.
What Premiere does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Premiere earns its place overhead. It is one of two Lutron blackouts listed for tensioned shades, and the 42% fiberglass core moves less with heat and humidity than a polyester cloth does, which counts on a sloped or skylight shade held flat in a hot roof space. The constraint is width. At 92 inches a wide skylight well becomes two shades running side by side.
Privacy
Overhead glass raises no privacy question, and on a vertical window Premiere behaves like any blackout, closing the room completely at 0% transmission. What decides whether the room actually goes dark is the perimeter rather than the cloth: a roller in a jamb leaks at both sides, and a sloped shade leaks wherever the cable or the channel meets the frame. Settle that detail before the fabric.
Glare control
Overhead sun is the hardest glare in a house, and a blackout is the only thing that removes it, which is how a media room with a skylight ends up here. The cloth reflects 69% to 71% of the solar energy and absorbs the rest, so the cavity above a closed roof shade gets warm on a summer afternoon. That heat is not reaching the room below.
Limitations
The card is five colourways and the width is 92 inches, so a wide bedroom slider goes to Encore instead. The published NRC is 0.05, so 15.9 oz of cloth is still not an acoustic layer. It sits in the top price band. And like every blackout it offers no view and no daylight, which is both the whole point and the whole limitation.

Where Premiere works here
Premiere is the fabric we specify when a bedroom or media room in a Fort Lauderdale or Boca house has skylights or sloped glass that must go fully dark on a tensioned Sivoia QS shade, and it is also a good vertical blackout when a fiberglass base is preferred over polyester for stability.
Premiere: frequently asked
Which Lutron blackouts work on skylights?
Premiere and Standard are the two blackouts Lutron lists for tensioned shades. Premiere is the designer-grade option in five colours; Standard is the basic PVC-coated one in six.
How wide can a Lutron Premiere shade be?
Lutron publishes a maximum usable fabric width of 92 inches for Premiere. It is railroadable, so a wider opening can be covered in one piece by turning the fabric. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
Which Lutron shades use Premiere?
Premiere is made up on Lutron roller shades and tensioned skylight shades. Colourways approved for tensioned shades can also cover skylights and sloped glass. As a certified Lutron dealer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach we order it for any Lutron system it is offered on and install it with our own team.
Is Premiere PVC-free?
Yes. Lutron lists every Premiere colourway as PVC-free, with Lead Free, Anti-microbial Properties, RoHS Compliant certifications.
Can I see Premiere samples before ordering?
