Lutron Highland Fabric

A grey-backed blackout in three warm neutrals
Highland Blackout is a Gallery fabric in three colours (Linen, Dove Grey, Latte): 45% polyester with a 55% acrylic coating and a grey back, 116 inches wide, PVC-free, lead free, GREENGUARD and Oeko-Tex certified. The grey back is the feature: from outside the shade reads as a neutral grey rather than a bright white panel, which suits tinted glass and dark facades.
It is seamable, not railroadable, and cleaned by dusting and spot cleaning.
What Highland does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Highland is a bedroom fabric with a facade job to do. The grey back is why it gets specified on a tower, and at 116 inches most condo bedroom sliders come out as a single panel. The three colourways are warm neutrals, Linen, Latte and Dove Grey, so the room side sits behind a warm interior without the cold white note a plain blackout brings with it.
Privacy
Zero openness, so the room is closed to view at any hour and in any light. What the cloth cannot do is close the gaps. An inside-mounted roller leaves a finger of daylight at each jamb, and on an east-facing bedroom that finger is what wakes people at first light. Side channels or an outside mount deal with it. The fabric is not the part that fails.
Glare control
With the shade down there is no glare, no view and no daylight, which is the whole bargain. Highland is a night and nap fabric rather than a daytime one, so on a bedroom facing the water it goes behind a screen on a dual roller and the room has something to use at noon. Raised, it does nothing at all.
Limitations
Lutron publishes no fire rating for Highland, which keeps it off hotel and multifamily specifications despite the Gallery card it sits on. It is not railroadable, so 116 inches is the limit before a seam, and a seam in a blackout panel reads as a line when the sun is behind it. Cleaning is dusting and spot cleaning, and there are only three colourways.

Where Highland works here
At the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Sunny Isles Beach the bedrooms go dark behind Highland blackouts on Lutron Sivoia QS, layered behind T Screen solars and Loro Piana sheers. That is Highland's role in our work: the quiet blackout layer in a designer window, in a colour that disappears behind the other layers.
Highland: frequently asked
Why a grey back instead of white?
Facade colour. On a tower with grey or bronze glass a white-backed blackout shows as a bright rectangle from the street; a grey back blends in. Some associations specify it.
How wide can a Lutron Highland shade be?
Lutron publishes a maximum usable fabric width of 116 inches for Highland. It can be seamed for wider openings, or two shades share one headrail and move together. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
Which Lutron shades use Highland?
Highland is made up on Lutron roller shades. As a certified Lutron dealer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach we order it for any Lutron system it is offered on and install it with our own team.
Is Highland PVC-free?
Yes. Lutron lists every Highland colourway as PVC-free, with Lead Free, GREENGUARD Certified, Oeko-Tex Certified, RoHS Compliant certifications.
