A light, bright 3% and 5% screen in six two-tone colours
SheerLite is a polyester-core screen (30% polyester, 70% vinyl on polyester) in six colourways (Pearl, Pearl/Oyster, Pearl/Grey, Charcoal, Charcoal/Grey, Charcoal/Brown), each at 3% and 5%, 116 inches wide, seamable and railroadable. It is Oeko-Tex certified alongside GREENGUARD and RoHS, and listed to NFPA 701 and DIN 4102 B1.
Visible light transmission runs from 7% to 20%, which is high for the openness: SheerLite lets more daylight in than an equivalent fiberglass screen and is one of the brightest options for a room that must stay light. Note that on a battery-powered shade from Lutron's Essentials range the usable width drops to 96 inches.
What SheerLite does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Bedrooms, studies and the shaded elevations of a house, and wide ones at that: at 116 inches most standard sliders come out as a single shade. Pearl and Pearl/Oyster where the room should stay light, Charcoal or Charcoal/Brown at 3% where somebody works at a screen. It is a roller fabric only, so a skylight or a sloped window goes to the tensioned range instead.
Privacy
SheerLite is a bright fabric and it hides less than a tighter screen. Pearl at 5% passes 19% of the visible light, so in daylight, close to the glass, a neighbour reads shapes; it reflects 67%, which is what keeps it looking like a pale panel from any distance. Charcoal/Brown at 3% passes 7% and covers far more. None of the twelve covers a lit room at night.
Glare control
Moderate, and brighter than the openness suggests. Pearl/Oyster at 5% publishes 20% visible transmission, enough to put a reflection on a television across the room. Charcoal at 3% publishes 9% and handles a monitor. If a screen faces the window, take a charcoal and take 3%. If the afternoon sun lands square on that glass, a 1% fiberglass weave is the better tool.
Limitations
It does not darken, it gives no cover after dark, and it does not go tighter than 3%. The charcoals reflect as little as 4% of the sun that reaches them, so on unshaded west glass that heat ends up at the window; a heat-reflective charcoal on the E Screen card handles that better. Lutron publishes no acoustic rating for SheerLite at all.

Where SheerLite works here
A good fit for the bedrooms and secondary rooms of a condo where the living room wears E Screen: same family of colours, a lighter, brighter feel, and a price a step below. Pearl/Oyster at 5% in a north or east bedroom keeps the morning soft without making the room dim.
SheerLite: frequently asked
SheerLite or E Screen?
E Screen is the more technical fabric (fiberglass core, five openness factors, KOOLBLACK charcoals) and the better choice on hot glass. SheerLite is lighter, brighter and less costly, and does well on shaded or secondary windows.
How wide can a Lutron SheerLite shade be?
Lutron publishes a maximum usable fabric width of 116 inches for SheerLite. It is railroadable, so a wider opening can be covered in one piece by turning the fabric. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
Which Lutron shades use SheerLite?
SheerLite is made up on Lutron roller shades. As a certified Lutron dealer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach we order it for any Lutron system it is offered on and install it with our own team.
